Underage Asylum Seekers in Serbia – on the verge of dignity

Article 15 of the Serbian Law on Asylum prescribes the principle of taking special care of asylum seekers with special needs, including minors. Moreover, migration flows management is highly ranked on the agenda of political decision-makers in Brussels, and therefore a progress made in this field is one of the prerequisites for the forthcoming EU accession negotiations. However, the Serbian state authorities were still surprised by the speed at which the number of asylum applications was increasing. The abovementioned facts and interviews conducted within the wider research on the status of asylum seekers in Serbia, motivated the authors of the following analysis to focus on the position of minor asylum seekers.
